Yes, hydrocodone should show up on a standard swab test. However, it is a legal substance which is present in a variety of medications such as Vicodin, Dicodid and Anexsia.

In the body it is a centrally-acting analgesic, which was developed as a semi-synthetic opioid.

Hydrocodone mouth swab
  • Hydrocodone is an opiate and therefore will show up on a standard mouth swab or ten panel urine screening. Opiates are one of the main groups that all employment or probation drug screenings test for.
  • Hydrocodone is a legal substance present in many forms of prescribed medication. If you are on a course of medication which contains Hydrocodone, then take your prescription form and a letter from your doctor to the test.
  • If you are taking a form of Hydrocodone recreationally, then you will not pass a mouth swab test and will be caught for taking an abusive substance.
  • Hydrocodone is being used more extensively in the pharmaceutical business because of concerns that paracetamol can cause liver damage.

Hydrocodone is an opiate, therefore if the drug test you're taking tests for opiates it could/should show up.

Opiates are pretty standard for drug tests. It depends on the length of time between when you took the hydrocodone and when your test is.
