The reason, is the meth you are high on, may counterac/react with the anesthesia medications during surgery, or you heart could stop making it necessary for them to perform CPR, which you may or may not recover from and you could die, ..
I took a pain med before Meniscus surgery once, didn't tell the Anesthesiologist, and after surgery it counteracted with anesthesia and other pain meds, and gave me a nasty panic attack. I thought, and it felt like, I was going to quit breathing. Very frightening.
