Cymbalta will probably not show up on a standard urine test.

This is because it is not one of the substances tested for in a standard drug screening, nor is it molecularly-similar to them.

The substances which are tested for are as follows:

  • Amphetamines (including methamphetamine).
  • Barbiturates.
  • Benzodiazepines.
  • Cannabinoids (such as the ingredient that gets you "high" in marijuana, THC).
  • Cocaine.
  • Methadone.
  • Methaqualone.
  • Opiates (such as codeine, heroin, oxycodone, vicodin).
  • Phencyclidine (PCP).
  • Propoxyphene.

  • Cymbalta is included within a group of drugs known as SSNRIs (selective serotonin and norepinephrine re-uptake inhibitors), which are usually prescribed to treat the effects of depression.
  • The drug does this by altering the chemical balance in the brain to reduce the onset of depression or the effects of the condition.
  • It is also prescribed for people with diabetes.

Cymbalta is not included in 5, 9 or 12 drug panel. So, this drug is not tested but some organizations can go for special test for Cymbalta detection.

If you have a valid prescription then even a positive drug test will not harm you.
