The term 't test' describes a statistical test that is being used to compute the probability of two groups that are on single parameters and are the members of the same group. In the test the population must be followed at the distribution. Though the above mentioned parameter is recommended, the test is robust enough so that it can be tolerated even if some deviation happens.

When it comes to the use of the test it is being used when you intend to test the values of the population when the normal population is assumed and the variance is unknown and sample size is also very small.

You can sum all the technicalities with one simple statement that the test is a statistical hypothesis that tests whether the null hypothesis of a student is true or not.
