It is likely that both Allegra D and Mucinex D will show up on a standard urine screening. This is because both contain the substance pseudoephedrine - a form of amphetamine.

Can Mucinex D make me fail a drug test?
  • Mucinex D contains a mixture of the substances guaifenesin and pseudoephedrine. It is used primarily to treat nasal congestion, the common cold, infections and allergies. Guaifenesin loosens congestion in the throat and chest areas which makes it easier to cough. Pseudoephedrine shrinks the blood vessels in the nasal passage, as dilated vessels cause a stuffy nose.
  • Allegra D works in a similar fashion to Mucinex D. It contains both pseudoephedrine and fexofenadine. Allegra D is normally taken to reduce sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose and itching. It can also be used to treat the common cold, skin rashes, allergies and a blocked nose. The fexofenadine present in allegra D is an antihistamine, which means it reduces the levels of the chemical histamine in the body. If histamine levels are too high, the chemical causes a runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing.
