HCTZ typically takes just over a day to completely leave your system. This is because of the drug’s half-life, which can range from six to fifteen hours. A half-life is a measurement of time - how long it takes for half of a substance to leave the body. HCTZ will leave the body at an exponential rate, meaning at first it leaves quickly, and then the last twenty per cent or so will take longer (significantly longer than, for instance, the first twenty per cent of the drug). So you can expect HCTZ to have fully left your body after around thirty hours. However, it can still be found present in hair follicles up to ninety days after taking the drug.

HCTZ is a drug designed to prevent the body from absorbing too much salt. It is often used to treat fluid retention, particularly in patients suffering from congestive heart failure. It can also be used in some cases to treat high blood pressure. HCTZ is safe for use alone or with other types of medication (although you should always check with your doctor first before taking HCTZ). If you are allergic to the drug, you should certainly not take it. Those who have other known allergies shouldn’t take HCTZ before making sure they don’t have an allergy to it.

Whilst HCTZ is present in your system, you should avoid situations in which you could become dehydrated. These include drinking alcohol and participating in tough exercise. You should take care to keep cool, particularly if the weather is hot, and drink lots of water. This avoids any unwanted side effects. Always take the appropriate doses of HCTZ as instructed by your doctor, and check the times at which you should take the drug throughout the day.

Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat fluid retention in congestive heart failure and cirrhosis of liver or kidney disorder. This is a diuretic drug. The half life of Hydrochlorothiazide is 5.6-14.8 hours. It means it will take 30 hours to get out from your body. But from hair follicle test it can take 80-90 days to get out.
